Teen Essentials, Classes at Jesse White park, April 3- May 29, 2015

I am elated to announce that Jesse White Park, located at 410 W. Chicago Avenue (Chicago & Orleans; Chicago Brown Line Train stop), has agreed to having us utilize their facilities for homeschool teen programming.

The Spring schedule occurs every Friday, April 3 – May 29, 2015, as follows:

9:45-11:00 am Writing for College

11:00a – noon Lunch

12:00 – 1:15 pm Personal Finance

1:30-2:30 pm Fun & Games

2:30 – 4:30p Free time

4:30 – 6p Teen’s Nite Out

Teen’s Nite out is the only class that may be registered for online. For registration of any other classes please email Yvonnie directly The entire 10-week program, excluding the Teen’s Nite Out, is $60 per student total.

Programming for the Spring Session is scheduled for April 3rd – May 29th. *There will be NO CLASS on Friday April 10th. Students are encouraged to register for as many or as few classes as they choose.

Classes are for 13-18. If your child is outside of the age range, but with a birthday approaching or the classes really appeal their interests,  Email Yvonnie directly

Teen Workshop with Blake Boles

Hello Northside Unschoolers,

We are excited to confirm the following information about the 3-day teen workshop moderated by Blake Boles. Blake will be drawing on his experiences working and traveling with unschooled teens, and his unique understanding of the power of unschooling, to help our teens think about their bigger futures. Key details:

WHEN: March 16, 17 & 18, 2015, 9-4 each day, with a parent wrap-up meeting on the last day (optional)

WHERE: The hospitality room of Eliot House Condominium of Sandburg Village, 1255 N. Sandburg Terrace (just North of Clark and Division Jewel Store), easily accessed via public transportation.

WHAT: This is a workshop created by Blake for teens to help them develop ideas for maximizing their current learning and adventure opportunities, while also thinking about their vision, values and goals for the future.

WHO: This is best suited for teens 13 – 19 years old.

COST: $120 per student, payable to Kelly Shultz via check, PayPal or Chase QuickPay.

In order to get the best benefit for individual participants, the maximum attendance count is capped at 20. Please contact Craig Shultz or Kelly to register by Friday, January 16.

Halloween Dance Party for Homeschool Teens and Tweens

If you didn’t get a chance to RSVP last week, you may still attend. We’ve got a great group of kids and teens coming and this should be a really fun event.
What:

Come dance/not dance, hang out with friends and make new friends at the Halloween Dance Party with homeschooled tweens, teens and their close friends age 10 and up.

*Costumes are encouraged, but not mandatory.* We’ll provide a professional DJ, and pizza and soda will be served.

When:
7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

-Bowling will be available to parents who wish to stay while their tween or teen attends the dance. (This would be at your own cost.)
-This is a drop-off event. Parent chaperones will be present.

Cost for dance:
$10, which covers the cost of the space rental, pizza, and soda. Pay at the event.

A note about age range for this event: This is a special event for Halloween open to a wider range of ages than previous teen-only dances. Therefore, we will have additional parent chaperones in attendance to help assist with set up and clean up and keep the event safe and fun for all.
